Antonio Reynoso was born and raised in the Los Sures section of Williamsburg to immigrant parents from the Dominican Republic. At a young age, Antonio’s parents instilled in him the importance of hard work, education, and community service. These lessons undoubtedly influenced his core philosophy and remain with him today.
Since 2007, Antonio has worked relentlessly for the communities throughout the 34th Council District improving the quality of life for Brooklyn residents. First, being hired as a Ridgewood representative where he empowered constituencies by fostering relationships with building and small business owners and facilitating the bureaucratic processes of city government. In 2009, Antonio became Council Member Reyna’s Chief of Staff, where he oversaw and advanced progressive policies and legislative reforms for affordable housing, economic development, job creation, education, and public safety. Antonio is well acquainted with the important issues of the district, the inner-workings of the City Council, and has made countless strides of inclusion to the many diverse communities that make up the 34th Council District.
He is running a grassroots campaign with wide-ranging support from labor unions, progressive organizations, community groups, democratic leaders, and most importantly, countless residents of the Williamsburg, Bushwick, and Ridgewood neighborhoods.
As the next City Councilmember representing the 34th district, Antonio wants to create an environment conducive to economic growth. He understands that success starts with strong schools, and that education is truly the path to opportunity. He is also sensitive and understands to the needs of those less fortunate and their fundamental right to have affordable housing.
